Anne-Marie Peatrik, a geographer and an anthropologist by training, is an Emeritus
Research Professor at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, the French
National Center for Scientific Research, and a member of The Laboratoire d'ethnologie
et de sociologie comparative (LESC – Centre for Ethnology and Comparative
Sociology- University of Paris Nanterre). She has conducted numerous field studies
in Kenya. A specialist in the age and generation-set systems of eastern Africa,
she has expanded the scope of her studies to embrace a critical anthropology of
ages and generations, and developed a program on the history of the ethnology
and anthropology of knowledge in eastern Africa.
